With new grant funding available this spring, you can implement a promising practice, sustain or build community engagement, or roll out a new communication strategy in your local community.

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) is offering grants of up to $50M to address COVID-19 health disparities and enhance health equity in underserved and disproportionately affected communities. With these grants, state, local, US territorial and freely associated state health departments can strengthen their public health infrastructure, preparedness and response capabilities and services.

When putting together an application for this funding consider utilizing tools on the NRC-RIM website including checklists, guides, and promising practices to support vaccination, testing, and contact tracing. Customizable COVID-19 vaccine campaigns can further enhance these efforts: Get the Facts,  Get Vaccinated and Vaccination Is

Collaborative proposals are strongly encouraged, particularly with new partners. For example, a Neighborhood Pop-Up COVID-19 Vaccine Site in Seattle vaccinated elders in an apartment complex who spoke Amharic, Oromo, Somali and Tigrinya. This pop-up clinic was the result of partnerships between a local independently owned pharmacy, the apartment complex, the Somali Health Board, and the Washington Department of Health. A proposal for this award could expand this approach between a community based organization, pharmacy and local health jurisdiction to provide vaccines in community identified congregate settings from apartment complexes to schools to community centers.

Funding will range from: $500,000 to $50 million and applications are due May 3, 2021.
