The North American Refugee Health Conference (NARHC) is the conference destination for healthcare and resettlement professionals working with refugee communities.

More than 700 healthcare and resettlement professionals working in refugee and immigrant health are expected to attend this three-day conference, which will be held in Calgary, AB, Canada from July 21-23. Registration is open now.

This year, Dr. William Stauffer, co-principal investigator of NRC-RIM, will join Dr. Drew Posey of the CDC's Immigrant, Refugee and Migrant Health Branch for a plenary presentation. They will cover topics pertaining to refugee and immigrant health. Learn more about this year’s plenary speakers and topics on the NARHC website.

Other NRC-RIM staff and collaborators will be presenting on a variety of topics including:

  • The Power of Language: Public Health and Clinical Perspectives on How the Way We Talk About Refugees, Immigrants and Migrants Shapes Health Outcomes
  • A By Women, For Women Approach to Serving the Medical Needs of Afghan Evacuees
  • Linguistic Disparities in COVID-19 Vaccine Uptake
  • Authentic Engagement with Ukrainian Communities as an Approach to Vaccine Education and Outreach
  • Practical Tips for Conducting Qualitative Interviews with Refugee and Immigrant Communities

A detailed conference agenda will be posted this month by Society of Refugee Healthcare providers that will detail oral abstracts, workshops and more. Scholarships are offered to attend the conference for those who were previously resettled as refugees in the U.S. or Canada.

We look forward to hosting a booth at NARHC’s yearly conference and to continue connecting with others in our work in refugee and immigrant health.
